Salto allows users to exclude specific differences between elements across environments during comparisons. This helps to focus on meaningful changes by ignoring selected discrepancies that are not relevant for the comparison process, or differences which are expected such as endpoint URLs, emails or other credentials.

Hiding elements from comparisons

Users can hide elements during the Element Selection deployment phase.

Hidden elements will not show up in comparisons in all the organization's environments.

๐Ÿ’ก While only administrators can hide new elements from comparisons, non-admin team members will still have these elements hidden in their comparisons

Hide entire elements

Use this to hide configuration elements which should only exist in one environment, but not the other. For example, you can hide a Netsuite application installed in production only.

To do this, in the Element Selection view, click the ellipsis (...) next to the element you wish to hide, then choose whether to hide it or all elements from its type.

Hide specific differences within elements

Use this to hide specific values which should be different between environments. For example, webhook URLs, email addresses, or any other type of credentials

An element will not show up in the table if it only has hidden differences within it.

To do this, in the Element Selection view, find the element with differences you want to hide and open it. Then, click on the difference to reveal the option to hide it:

Viewing hidden elements

When some elements have been hidden from your comparison, you'll see their number in the top right corner of the table. You can toggle the view to include or exclude hidden elements.

Reviewing exclusions

Users can review the current exclusions in the Settings->"Compare Exclude" view. You can access that in the bottom left user settings menu:

From this screen you can view active exclusions, and remove them if necessary:
